Description

RLA Mastik is an economical, high-performance, polymer-modified flexible tile adhesive with excellent mastic properties. Classified as C2S1ET, it is suitable for bonding most ceramic and porcelain tiles (excluding moisture-sensitive stone and marbles) to a wide range of substrates. Its non-slump formulation makes it ideal for large format tiles on both wall and floor applications, internally and externally.

• Concrete and cement render

• Rendered brickwork and blockwork

• Gyprock and plasterboard

• Fibre cement sheeting

• RLA-approved waterproofing membranes

Not suitable for moisture-sensitive stone such as green marble or some limestones.

Application

• All preparation and installation must comply with AS 3958.1 – Guide to the Installation of Ceramic Tiles

• Apply adhesive using an appropriate notched trowel:

  • 6 × 6 mm for wall tiles up to 150 × 150 mm

  • 10 × 10 mm for tiles larger than 150 × 150 mm

• Apply adhesive to approx. 1 m² at a time to prevent skinning

• Press tiles firmly into the adhesive using a sliding motion

• Back-butter tiles where required to ensure full coverage

• Minimum bed thickness:

  • 2 mm for walls

  • 3 mm for floors

• Do not disturb tiles for 24 hours at 20°C

• Approx. 7 m² per 20 kg bag using a 10 mm notched trowel

Clean-Up

• Clean excess adhesive with a damp cloth while wet

• Remove adhesive from grout joints before setting

• Wash tools with water before adhesive dries

• Protect tiled areas from rain and harsh weather until 24 hours after grouting
