RLA Addflextra is a premium-grade, rubber-modified, flexible white cement-based tile adhesive designed for bonding most ceramic, stone and mosaic tiles to a wide range of substrates. Classified as C2S1ET, it delivers excellent flexibility, strong adhesion and high coverage, making it suitable for both internal and external wall and floor applications. Addflextra is also Respirable Crystalline Silica-free and Green Tag certified, helping deliver instant green credits on compliant building projects.

Recommended Uses

• Internal and external tiling to walls and floors

• Fixing low-porosity and porcelain tiles

• Tiling over existing tiles (with RLA Universal Primer)

• Tiling over most waterproofing membranes

Surface Preparation

• Concrete slabs must cure for minimum 6 weeks with wood-float finish

• Rendered surfaces must cure for minimum 7 days

• Maximum surface variation:

  • Floors: 5mm in 3m

  • Walls: 4mm in 2m

• Steel-trowelled concrete must be mechanically or chemically abraded

• Fibre cement sheeting:

  • Minimum 6mm for residential

  • Minimum 9mm for heavy-duty commercial use

• Plasterboard must be minimum 10mm thick

• All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry and free of contaminants

• Prime all surfaces with RLA Uniprime, especially porous substrates

Mixing Ratio

• 20 kg powder to 8 litres of clean water

• Always add powder to water while mixing

• Mix to a smooth, lump-free consistency

• Allow mix to stand for 10 minutes, then re-stir before use

Application

• Installation must comply with AS 3958.1 – Guide to the Installation of Tiles

• Apply adhesive using appropriate notched trowel:

  • Floors up to 300 × 300 mm: 10 × 10 mm

  • Tiles larger than 300 × 300 mm: 12 × 12 mm + back butter

  • Mosaic tiles: 6 × 6 mm

  • Wall tiles up to 150 × 150 mm: 6 × 6 mm

  • Wall tiles over 150 × 150 mm: 10 × 10 mm

• Apply adhesive to approx. 1 m² at a time

• Do not lay tiles into skinned adhesive

• Ensure full coverage with no voids

• Minimum adhesive bed thickness:

  • Walls: 2 mm

  • Floors: 3 mm

• Do not disturb tiles for 24 hours at 20°C

Expansion / Movement Joints

• Must be installed in accordance with AS 3958:2007

• Required:

  • Over existing substrate joints

  • Between different substrates

  • Around columns, walls and perimeters

  • Internal floors over 9m (6m if sun-exposed)

  • External floors over 4.5m

• Joint width: 6–10 mm

Grouting & Clean-Up

• Grouting may commence after 24 hours @ 20°C

• Use RLA Grouts and follow manufacturer instructions

• Clean excess adhesive with a damp cloth while wet

• Clean tools with water before adhesive sets
